SU Treasurer
GSHNJ Service Unit Treasurers manage the service unit’s funds, complete the annual Service Unit Finance Report, and assist with budget planning for the membership year. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with GSHNJ’s financial policies within the service unit and assisting troops with budgets, annual finance reporting, and financial planning.
Gail Perruzzi will train this person for the 2024–25 year with the goal of the new Treasurer taking over for the 2025–26 year.
Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as the subject matter expert for GSHNJ policies as they pertain to SU and troop money earners, annual finance reports, and banking and serves as the initial point of inquiry and troubleshooting for troop leaders.

Serves as co-signer on service unit bank accounts.
Maintains accurate financial records throughout the year.
Collaborates with the SU team to prepare an annual budget.
Prepares and submits the annual Service Unit Finance Report.
Presents SU finance status during local SU team or troop leader meetings.
Oversees SU event budgets, check requests, and reimbursements.
Guides troop volunteers through annual Troop Finance Report submission, ensuring finance reports are submitted by July 31 each year.
Instructs disbanding/graduating troops on how to properly spend down funds and close out bank accounts.
Opts in to GSHNJ’s council-wide email distribution lists.
Participates in the Service Unit Treasurer rally on Rallyhood.
SU Cookie Manager
GSHNJ Service Unit Cookie Manager (SUCM) promotes and facilitates the execution of the Cookie Program within their service unit.
Council offers training for this position. Andrea Csiszlak, Maryanne Turdo, Idria Knecht, and Kathleen McHenry can help overall during cookie season.
Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as the service unit’s subject matter expert for the Cookie Program and serves as the initial point of inquiry and troubleshooting for troop leaders.
Operates as the liaison between service unit volunteers and council staff by escalating issues, turnkeying training and program materials, and amplifying communications.
Attends the Cookie Program training hosted by GSHNJ.
Hosts a Cookie Program training for your service unit.
Verifies troops are registered and assigned to the appropriate troop/position prior to the start of the program.
Confirms all troop orders are correctly entered into the system before the SUCM lock out date.
Coordinates mega drop volunteers.
Organizes delivery of earned recognitions.
Opts in to GSHNJ’s council-wide email distribution lists.
Participates in the Service Unit Cookie Manager and Girl Scout Cookie Program rallies on Rallyhood.
Camporee Head
Organizes and leads execution of yearly Camporee excursion.
Maryanne Turdo will assist with training and paperwork. Idria Knecht handles the shirts, fun patches, ticket sales through the website, and email promotions.
Must take Outdoors and Overnights training 1, 2, and 3. Must take First Aid training.
Contacts various camps in NJ and PA to get prices for girls and adults for 2 nights/1 day.
Negotiates two or more dates to offer to the Service Unit.
Handles financial transactions with the camp.
Handles all contact between camp and Service Unit.
Collects and is responsible for all permission slips and health forms from attendees.
Is responsible for all GSHNJ trip paperwork.
Attends the event and is present for questions and organization on-site.
Arranges for movie for Friday night.
Arranges for judging of tent/cabin decorating contest.
