FIRST LEGO League

Come Join LEGO League!

Does your Girl Scout Junior or Cadette love LEGO? Is she into STEM, robotics, or programming? Come play with us!

SU93’s FIRST LEGO League Girl Scout troop is open to Girl Scouts ages 9 to 14, and all costs are covered. Hardware and software are provided.

What’s FIRST LEGO League?

FIRST LEGO League is a robotics competition club. Students learn how
to
frame and solve problems using programmable LEGO Spike robots.

Each season is a new challenge. Robots need to advance, climb,

descend, turn, and navigate, and can use light, sound, and color

sensors. Teams can compete at the regional level and winners go on

to state competitions!

FLL teaches robotics, coding, teamwork, leading, learning by doing,

and cooperative learning, reinforcing many Girl Scout values and opening the door to STEM careers.

What’s the FIRST LEGO League Girl Scout troop?

GSHNJ has received grants to cover the cost of running several FLL teams. Each team, made up of Girl Scouts ages 9 to 14 (Juniors and Cadettes), will function as an independent troop in addition to the girls’ regular troops.
We meet once a week in Bloomsbury
on Sundays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. from the beginning of August to the end of November (which is the competition). Parents/guardians are welcome to stay and watch, but you can drop off your Girl Scout and come pick her up later too. Snacks are provided.

Your Girl Scout can work on earning coding and robotics badges and Programming Journeys!

How does my Girl Scout join?

Email Troop Leader Idria Knecht at imbknecht@gmail.com and let us know you’re interested. The team can be between five and 10 girls, so first-come first-served. You do not have to be in SU93 to join — Scouts from neighboring Service Units covering Warren County are also welcome!
